Itaipu Hydroelectric Dam
The fifth longest river in the world was more than well profited for the production of non-pollutant power. The Itaipu Hydroelectric Dam was built by the Brazilian and Paraguaian governments, and accounts for 25% of the electricity consumed in Brazil and 95% of the power consumed in Paraguay. Its reservoir bears the highest power-production rate, with the smallest proportional flooded area in the planet. Its twenty turbines generate fourteen million kilowatts, turning Itaipu Binational into the biggest world producer of electric power.
