Itinerary

This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Your experience begins by meeting your host Jules at her high-rise apartment with views of Lake Igapó. Join Jules in her kitchen to learn to make the traditional caipirinha (cachaca and lime drink) and to cook traditional Brazilian dishes. Your cooking experience will last about 1.5 hours during which will learn how to prepare cheese bread, onion farofa (toasted cassava flour), desserts and other side dishes. After cooking, sit down to enjoy the traditional Brazilian dishes with Jules’ international twist that you helped cook. Your menu might include dishes such as pastéis de angu (corn-fritters filled with jerked beef) or chicken escondidinho (chicken shepherd’s pie with cassava mash), barreado with cassava flour and plantains (slow-cooked beef stew), moqueca de peixe with pirão (fish in coconut sauce) or a traditional feijoada (black bean stew) with all the trimmings. For dessert, indulge in bolo de milho com goibada (corn cake and guava sauce), musse de maracujá (passion fruit mousse) or pudim de leite condensado (creamy flan).
