The name is because of the Formiga river. It is a small fall that forms a large well of water in greenish tones that resemble emerald. The water is very transparent and even in the deepest place you can see the fine white calcareous sand. Around this natural pool, the vegetation is lush and reminiscent of the Atlantic rainforest, with palm trees, ferns and many trees with animals jumping back and forth!
