What to Expect When Visiting Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

We have taken the sailboats to the region of Ilha Grande, Angra dos Reis and Paraty over 200 times with guests, all our skippers are extremely knowledgeable of the reagion. All our sailboats are professionally maintained and run preventive maintenance of all systems on board.

We have 2 identical 46–feet sailboats built by MJ Yachts, with fully cushionized cockpit, full kitchen, two toilets, and 3 double cabins, 1 cabin with 2 single beds andthe leaving room table that can host up to 2 additional guests. We alwaystravel with 2 skippers for safety, taking turns during navigation and to always have someone on board while the group goes to a beach or restaurant. We can comfortably host between 6 and 8 guests per boat, with the skippers sleeping on the living room table.          I suggest to buy all the provisions before leaving Rio deJaneiro, so we can prepare all the meals on board and don’t lose time goingdaily to the supermarket. I can receive a supermarket list and go to the supermarket myself 1 day prior to leaving the harbor, or the guests can bringthe food on the departure day. We willleave from the Marina da Glória in Rio de Janeiro, which is right next to thelocal airport (SDU). We usually leave early morning to travel with daylight. Thetrip between Rio de Janeiro and Ilha Grande is 60 miles long and takes around 8hours, Paraty is 30 miles further away and takes additional 4 hours – it’s a longjourney from Rio de Janeiro to Paraty, we usually suggest to break it in partswhile stopping over at the Ilha Grande. We usually go to Ilha Grande with atleast 3 days to enjoy and Paraty with at least 4 days in total. There aremany options of secluded anchorages where we can sleep comfortably aboard atthe region, such as the Saco do Céu, Enseada do Abraão, Lagoa Azul, Enseada doSítio Forte at the Ilha Grande, or the Saco do Mamanguá near Paraty. There are365 islands in total at the Ilha Grande Bay, with thousands of well preservedwhite sand beaches. The price is R$3.000 per day plus Viator fees, with the guests paying thesupermarket and diesel costs in addition. When the boat is booked for 4 days or more, there is no diesel reimbursement. Please let me knowif you have any other questions or comments. Cheers, Daniel.
