It was opened in 1884 to house exhibitions of flowers, birds and agricultural products. Its pre-molded structure, in cast iron, was ordered from a foundry in France by Conde D’Eu, and was assembled in Petrópolis by engineer Eduardo Bonjean. Today it hosts cultural events and exhibitions.
The Imperial Museum, popularly known as the Imperial Palace, is a historical-themed museum located in the historic center of the city of Petrópolis, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is located in the former Summer Palace of the Brazilian emperor Dom Pedro II.[1] The museum’s collection consists of pieces linked to the Brazilian monarchy, including furniture, documents, works of art and personal objects from members of the imperial family.
