Join us on one of the most exhilarating hikes in Rio de Janeiro! Located inside the city, Pedra da Gávea is the world’s largest coastal monolith and a must-experience place. Feel the mysticism surrounding this space and marvel at the views in this life-changing tour!
Itinerary
We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Rio de Janeiro at 7:30 am, before taking a 30-minute ride to Tijuca National Park.
Once there, we will begin a brilliant and challenging 3h00 ascent trek to the top of the mystical Pedra da Gávea. Along the way, we will encounter Brazil’s most representative fauna and vegetation. The ascent is uphill and involves hiking, scrambling, and a short section of rock climbing (rock climbing experience not required).
Before reaching the summit, the last stage of the ascent is a cliff face of 70-foot, which we will climb. It is not necessary to have previous rock climbing experience, as our instructor will help you through every step with the proper safety equipment. Once at the top, you will be rewarded with wonderful picture-postcard views.
After enjoying the breathtaking view for 1 hour approximately, we will abseil back down the cliff face near the summit before starting the trek back (2h30 approx.) to the original starting point.
Once finishing the hike, we will return to your hotel and the drop-off will be around 4 pm (if the “Pick up and Drop off” tour option is chosen).
